I can't believe 2012 is here and January has gone so quickly! My 'New Year's resoloution' is to update this website, Twitter and deviantART a lot more often (at least once every two weeks or so) and so far I've stuck to it; I've just done more work on this website in one day than I have in a whole year :O

So anyway, I'm making several updates to each individual 'creation'; each now features it's own description :)
And on that note, I'm currently adding several long overdue costumes and jewellery pieces, head on over to the creations page to check them out!

Happy Valentine's Day everybody!

Firstly, the website, I am ever so slowly updating it. I've worked on the 'About Me' and 'Links' pages as well as just normally updating the homepage. I'm sorry it's taking so long but I am so incredibly busy, it's a nightmare.

Drop me a message in the chatbox if you feel like motivating me to update, I have yet to post a tutorial or random video. *gahhhh*

Seeing as I'm currently in the process of making my victorian gown I think I will post here and on deviantART a sort of step by step tutorial or process of the creation of the dress. It'll make me feel like I'm keeping, especially devART, up to date and not just posting photos after I finish the dress.

So, anyway, in the real world I'm currently writing a book as well as doing the illustrations for it, it's sort of an exciting process.

Regarding the book, just want to say thanks to Andrew and Caitlin for the 'cake' thing and everyone else for just putting up with me as I moaned when I couldn't come up with the idea for a suitable magical artefact.

Before I forget I am working on some Disney crossover videos and, if I say so myself, they are turning out pretty damn awesome, after I upload them to YouTube I may just post them under the 'Random' section of the website.

I have just added a number of snapshots to my scraps here
Some are from the 'pirate wench' photoshoot thing and some from my Christmas dance so you may want to have a peek there, be warned, there are some terrible ones of me but you know me, I always love to poke fun at myself

I want to appologise for the crazy hiatus but I'm back now. I know it's a bit late but 'HAPPY NEW YEAR!' I hope you all enjoyed yourselves over the festive period.

For my 16th birthday (22nd August 2011) I'm planning a Murder Mystery Party and am wanting it to be very period (it's set in the year 1899, I believe) so am currently working on a Victorian gown to wear. I have so far only created the pattern for the bodice by altering some original Victorian patterns and have yet to even cut out my material but this I should be doing very soon. I'm also going to make sure to take lots of pictures of my progress of this one but not having a mannequin to display the goods on is tricky.

I'm at the moment debating whether to machine or hand sew the bodice together. Decisions, decisions, decisions...

Also, has everyone seen the trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean 4 yet? *YAY* It's going to be awesome! But...I will be honest when I say that Salma Hayek would have been more kick-ass than Penelope Cruz if she had been cast instead!

Ok, so I've finally fixed the homepage and the music player etc but I couldn't get back any of the news archives but it doesn't really matter. Tonight I'll be posting 3 overdue pages for some costumes, the POTC plum gown, the AiW White Queen dress and the Italian Renaissance Gown so keep your eyes peeled! I'll also continue to fix the music player across the rest of the pages.

On to a different topic now, I have decided to go to the Auchinawa japanese visual art convention in 2012 so that gives me more than enough time to create 3 different cosplays to wear across the 3 days event also it gives me a chance to hoard some money to spend at the dealers den and auction!

I know this update is long overdue but I guess better late than never!

So, anyways before I get onto how the sewing course thing I was running went I want to quickly say that while I was testing pages for a new site to advertise my graphics/advertising business I accidentally saved over some of the website pages here at SITW so as soon as I can I'll sort it and get it back to what is was like before. I'll have lost all the stuff in the 'news/updates' archives but that will be it. I'll just have to use my deviantART journals to try and regain that information.

Right, so onto events week. There were 5 of us in total, myself and Megan who were running it and 3 other girls, they could all sew well so everything went smoothly. Seeing as there were so few of us we decided to ditch the historic costume bit (except from my Italian renaissance gown (photo now submitted)) and just create lots of cool things. We made skirts, dresses, bags, purses and even cushions! In the near future I'll try and take more pictures of my gown.

We spent the whole time re-watching the Eurovision Song Contest on the BBC i Player as I just had to see more of Milan Stankovic from Serbia (he is amazing and I love his album) and Jessie Matador from France (catchy song).

I have finally added "The Duchess Inspired Gown" to the creations page!

In about weeks time I will be running a costumery course with a friend for 3 days (Wed-Fri) and in that time while teaching a few others to sew I will be trying to make an "Italian Renaissance Gown" from start to finish. I'll post some of my research and pictures of how I want the final project to look over on the "Creations" page under "Work in Progress- Costumes". I really don't know how I'll manage, if I do manage to complete the dress I bet after 18 hours of pure sewing I will never want to sew again though I'll try and make sure that doesn't happen!

For the deviantART Alice in Wonderland contest I have been slaving away on a new costume: The White Queen, as played by Anne Hathaway

And now I have completed it! YAY!!!

I should be submitting my entry in a few days when I have time to look for my camera cable :S I'm always losing things!

Halloween is slowly approaching and for Halloween we (along with our Honorary Member, Ellen) have started several new projects for the big day as follows:

Kyla: 1 dress from "The Duchess", The Mad Hatter, 1 Gothic dress
Caitlin: 1 18th century dress, The White Rabbit, 1 Gothic dress
Megan: 1 18th century dress, The Queen of Hearts, 1 Gothic dress
Ellen: 1 dress from "Marie Antoinette", Alice in Wonderland, 1 Gothic dress

So that's a total of 3 dresses each or 12 dresses. Kyla's holding a Halloween Sleepover so in that time we will be visiting the big old house near to wear she lives to take photos of our costumes, especially the 18th century gowns
